I DON'T THINK SO !!! AND HERE IS WHY:

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT:
-HIGHER GAS PRICES (opposes offshore drilling)
-NO INITIATIVE FOR FREE TRADE (thinks it is oversold)
-CUTBACKS IN HEALTH CARE(will cut MEDICARE to fund his pet projects)

OBAMA WILL CUT PROGRAMS AND SPEND TAXPAYER MONEY TO HIS ENDS:
....My plan is detailed and specific when it comes to cutting spending,’’ the Democratic candidate said in a July 7 speech in St. Louis. ....In fact, all my new spending proposals would be more than paid for by spending reductions.’’

THIS IS WHAT HE WILL REDUCE OR CUT:
Obama’s proposed spending cuts would touch areas from student loans to Medicare to subsidies for wealthy farmers. Excluding health-care-related savings, they would total less than $30 billion -- 1 percent of the $3 trillion U.S. budget.

Medicare Cuts

The bulk of savings in his plan are health-care related. He would cut $15 billion in subsidies to a private Medicare coverage program and save tens of billions more by modernizing health-care information systems and insurance-payment processes.

The plans ....sound good on paper but don’t produce much,’’ said Isabel Sawhill, an associate budget director during the Clinton administration.

Obama proposes $1,000 energy rebates for consumers

By MIKE GLOVER, Associated Press Writer 1 hour, 12 minutes ago

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama on Friday called for a $1,000 "emergency" rebate to consumers to offset soaring energy costs amid fresh signs of a struggling economy with the nation’s unemployment rate climbing to a four-year high.

Obama told a town-hall meeting the rebate would be financed with a windfall profits tax on the oil industry.

"This rebate will be enough to offset the increased cost of gas for a working family over the next four months," Obama said in the crucial swing state of Florida.

Obama had earlier said the rebates should be part of a larger tax relief package. But now he says the slumping economy demands they be put in place immediately.

Obama’s remarks coincide with news that the unemployment rate climbed to a four-year high of 5.7 percent in July as employers cut 51,000 jobs, dashing the hopes of an influx of young people looking for summer work. Payroll cuts weren’t as deep as the 72,000 predicted by economists, however. And, job losses for both May and June were smaller than previously reported.

July’s reductions marked the seventh straight month where employers eliminated jobs. The economy has lost a total of 463,00 jobs so far this year.

A movement is sweeping the nation. Frenzied crowds gather in every state. Young people chant and sing. Women swoon. The result is record voter turn out and a rare political enthusiasm. At the head of this unprecedented phenomenon stands a charismatic figure intent on becoming the President of the United States.

"I'm asking you to believe."
"We are the ones we have been waiting for."
"Yes, we can!"
"Change."
"Hope."

These words, from Barack Obama, have inspired everything from outrageous videos to the largest campaign fundraising success in history. He has taken what was considered a sure bet Clinton machine and turned it on its head. His supporters claim he is the new Martin Luther King, Jr. He is hailed as this generation's John F. Kennedy. This documentary explores the HYPE behind Barack Obama.

Morning Edition, July 16, 2008 · Arizona Sen. John McCain and Illinois Sen. Barack Obama agree on at least one thing: the price of oil is painfully high.

Obama fired back in Jacksonville, Fla., where drilling isn’t such a popular idea. "It would have long-term consequences for our coastlines, but no short-term benefits, since it would take at least 10 years to get any oil," he said.

And that’s not soon enough, he added: "Offshore drilling would not lower gas prices today."

Though Barack Obama has been the first man who has some African descent to be nominated for president, is race the deciding factor for this election?

Spread The Word...

Does race alone determine his ability to lead this country? Obama is both white and black, so is this a black and white issue???

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xePDRrTHfH4

According to Luda, and his man "OBAMA"....

IT SURE IS !!

OBAMA MAKING RACE A POLITICAL ISSUE:

A day after Democratic candidate Barack Obama warned that Republican rival John McCain would tell voters "he doesn’t look like all those other presidents on the dollar bills," McCain’s campaign on Thursday accused Obama of playing racial politics.

MCCAIN NEVER SAID THIS !!

OBAMA SAID THIS ABOUT HIMSELF:

Obama said(THAT MCCAIN WOULD MAKE THESE STATEMENTS ABOUT HIM), but this only came out of Obama’s mouth:
"You know, ..he’s not patriotic enough, he’s got a funny name,’ you know, ..he doesn’t look like all those other presidents on the dollar bills.’"

Obama "played the race card, and he played it from the bottom of the deck," McCain campaign manager Rick Davis said in a statement. He called Obama’s remarks "divisive, negative, shameful and wrong."

Obama himself didn’t make clear what distinctions he thinks McCain is likely to raise regarding the presidents on U.S. currency — white men who for the most part were much older than Obama when elected.

**McCain has not raised Obama’s race as an issue in the campaign; he has said Obama lacks experience.

Obama often makes references to his distinctions as a candidate, such as saying there are doubts among some voters because he has "a funny name." At times he refers to his race as well, saying he looks different from any previous candidate but then adding that the differences are not just about race. Addressing supporters Tuesday night at a fundraiser in Springfield, Mo., he said, "It’s a leap, electing a 46-year-old black guy named Barack Obama."It is as if Obama’s campaign slogan for "CHANGE" means more to him about race, than it does actual change !!

OBAMA = NO OFFSHORE DRILLING = HIGHER TAXES ON ELECTRICITY = MORE DEPENDENCE ON FOREIGN OIL = HIGHER GAS PRICES...

Spread The Word...

We agree that Senator Barack Obama may be the "biggest celebrity in the world." But as you and I know, simply attracting large crowds of fans with empty rhetoric doesn't prepare a person to lead a country. The more we get to know the real Barack Obama, the more he shows that he is not ready to lead our country.

Gas prices are at an all-time high, and Senator Obama has become the "Dr. No" of energy. He says no to off-shore drilling, resulting in an increase in our dependence on foreign oil. In fact, his solution to our energy challenge is to raise taxes on electricity. Hard-working Americans can't afford Senator Obama's energy policies in the White House.

You and I know that our country is faced with great challenges and Americans need to elect a true leader as our next president, a leader who puts country first. That leader is John McCain.

Throughout his entire life, John McCain has put his country first. Often called a "maverick" because he believes in solving problems with real solutions, he's prepared to lead our country in a new direction and he needs our help to get elected this fall.

We need your help and we need it now. There are only 97 days left until the election. Please follow this link to watch our latest TV ad and after watching, I'm asking that you make a donation of whatever you can give to help us air this ad for millions to see.

SEE THE STRAW POLL, WHERE MCCAIN HAS A 70% APPROVAL RATING OVER OBAMA:

HE IS ALSO AHEAD ON THE GALLUP POLL...

Sen. John McCain was talking oil prices today at a campaign stop in Wilkes-Barre, PA, and he credited President Bush with the over $20 a barrel drop in the price of oil since July 11. Oil closed on that day at $147.27 a barrel. On the following Monday, President Bush announced that he was lifting the executive branch ban on drilling for oil in the Outer Continental Shelf. The next day, oil prices dropped greater than $7 a barrel and have continued dropping, finishing today trading at $124.65.

McCain, who has called on Congress to lift its moratorium on offshore drilling, said that Bush’s call for expanded exploration had signaled to the markets that the United States may open up its supplies, causing speculators to bid down the price. The White House was more modest, with Press Secretary Dana Perino accepting credit for the price drop, but hinting that other factors could have been at work as well.

"I don’t know if we fully deserve the credit. We don’t predict what happens in the market. We can’t really tell. Certainly, taking that action would send a signal that at least the executive branch is serious about moving forward and increasing the supply we have in America."

McCain has taken to mentioning gas prices on the campaign trail at every opportunity in hopes of ratcheting up pressure on his opponent, Sen. Barack Obama. The campaign recently released a national television ad focusing on what the campaign terms as Obama’s obstructionism on oil development and its impact on gas prices. It is a smart strategy. Polls show that the public broadly backs McCain’s call for increased drilling, and it shows that McCain is in touch with ordinary people’s frustrations about the high cost of gasoline.

"Just tell me one thing Barack Obama has done that you admire," I asked a prominent Democrat. He paused and then said that he admired Obama’s speech to the Democratic convention in 2004. I agreed. It was a hell of a speech, but it was just a speech.

On the other hand, I continued, I could cite four or five actions -- not speeches -- that John McCain has taken that elicit my admiration, even my awe. First, of course, is his decision as a Vietnam prisoner of war to refuse freedom out of concern that he would be exploited for propaganda purposes. To paraphrase what Kipling said about Gunga Din, John McCain is a better man than most.

But I would not stop there. I would include campaign finance reform, which infuriated so many in his own party; opposition to earmarks, which won him no friends; his politically imprudent opposition to the Medicare prescription drug bill (Medicare has about $35 trillion in unfunded obligations); and, last but not least, his very early call for additional troops in Iraq. His was a lonely position -- virtually suicidal for an all-but-certain presidential candidate and no help when his campaign nearly expired last summer. In all these cases, McCain stuck to his guns.

Gallup Poll Shows McCain Ahead of Obama
By Mark Impomeni

Jul 28th 2008 4:30PM

Filed Under: Barack Obama, John McCain, Breaking News, 2008 President, Polls

In a surprising result, the latest Gallup/USA Today poll of likely voters in the presidential race shows Sen. John McCain leading Sen. Barack Obama by four percentage points, 49-45. The shift represents a swing of 10 points in favor of Sen. McCain from last month’s poll, which showed the Republican trailing Obama by 6 points. The poll was conducted over the weekend, on the heels of Sen. Obama’s foreign trip. That trip was designed to show Sen. Obama as a competent manager of foreign policy and national security matters. But controversies marred the ending of the trip and may have contributed to the results of this poll.

While the McCain campaign will certainly be delighted with the results of the survey, several caveats bear mentioning. First, the poll’s results are at variance with Gallup’s daily tracking poll, which shows a 9 point lead for Obama. Second, although it is a Gallup poll, considered the gold standard of presidential polling, it is only one result and will likely change several times throughout the summer. Third, in the same poll, Sen. McCain is shown as trailing Obama among the larger group of registered voters by 3 points. Not all registered voters vote, however, and a lead among likely voters is generally considered by pollsters to be more significant as an indicator of the eventual election outcome.

The Obama campaign can take comfort in some of those same caveats, but the poll’s result has to be very troubling for the Illinois Senator’s effort. The campaign has been talking openly of preparing for a presidential transition and has been chastised recently by reporters for acting too much like a White House in waiting. Besides serving as a dose of reality for a campaign that has perhaps been flying a little too high, the result should spur the Obama campaign to take a serious look at its message. Obama has been primarily basing his appeal on his personal judgment and potential. But voters tend to vote on specifics, and the Obama campaign has been short on the kinds of concrete plans that voters typically look for from presidential candidates. In other words, Obama will have to demonstrate to voters that he is more than just an eloquent speaker to win the election.

CLIP FOR ZEDALZA

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- The House of Representatives was poised Tuesday to pass a resolution apologizing to African-Americans for slavery and the era of Jim Crow.
The House is poised to pass a resolution that would apologize for slavery and Jim Crow.

The House is poised to pass a resolution that would apologize for slavery and Jim Crow.

The nonbinding resolution, which is expected to pass, was introduced by Rep. Steve Cohen, a white lawmaker who represents a majority black district in Memphis, Tennessee.

While many states have apologized for slavery, it will be first time a branch of the federal government will apologize for slavery if the resolution passes, an aide to Cohen said.

By passing the resolution, the House would also acknowledge the "injustice, cruelty, brutality and inhumanity of slavery and Jim Crow."

"Jim Crow," or Jim Crow laws, were state and local laws enacted mostly in the Southern and border states of the United States between the 1870s and 1965, when African-Americans were denied the right to vote and other civil liberties and were legally segregated from whites.

The name "Jim Crow" came from a character played by T.D. "Daddy" Rice who portrayed a slave while in blackface during the mid-1800s.

The resolution states that "the vestiges of Jim Crow continue to this day."

"African-Americans continue to suffer from the consequences of slavery and Jim Crow -- long after both systems were formally abolished -- through enormous damage and loss, both tangible and intangible, including the loss of human dignity and liberty, the frustration of careers and professional lives, and the long-term loss of income and opportunity," the resolution states.

The House would also commit itself to stopping "the occurrence of human rights violations in the future," if it passes the resolution.
Don't Miss

* In Depth: 'Black in America'
* iReport.com: Your take on 'Black in America'

The resolution does not address the controversial issue of reparations. Some members of the African-American community have called on lawmakers to give cash payments or other financial benefits to descendents of slaves as compensation for the suffering caused by slavery.

The resolution will not be the first time lawmakers have apologized to an ethnic group for past injustices.

In April, the Senate passed a resolution sponsored by Sen. Sam Brownback, R-Kansas, that apologized to Native Americans for "the many instances of violence, maltreatment and neglect."

In 1993, the Senate also passed a resolution apologizing for the "illegal overthrow" of the Kingdom of Hawaii in 1893.

In 1988, Congress passed and President Reagan signed a law apologizing to the 120,000 Japanese-Americans who were held in detention camps during World War II. The 60,000 detainees who were alive at the time each received $20,000 from the government.

The Buzz Weekend Recap
by Gordon Hurd
July 27, 2008 06:16:50 PM

Praying for a rise in buzz
The laws of physics dominate buzz as much as they do any natural phenomenon: What goes up must come down. But try to tell that to Barack Obama. His international tour—a trip through the Middle East and Europe, including a buzzy speech in Berlin—dominated headlines throughout the week, and the weekend news clips kept the spotlight acutely focused on the presidential candidate.

The website Politico's attempt to measure the impact of Obama's travels drew a healthy round of interest in the Buzzosphere. Was the trip enough to make the first-term senator appear presidential? It's too soon to see any results in the polls. Even if Obama's prayers at the Western Wall in Jerusalem were supposed to be private, we're sure his supporters couldn't have wished for more buzz.

For every Obama action, one should expect an equal and opposite McCain reaction. Rival John McCain chose to criticize where Obama didn't go on his travels, generating a parallel universe of online views. There's little doubt that the laws of politics hold as strong a sway as those of nature in the Buzz.

Praying for a fall in prices
The rise and fall of fuel kept mouses clicking and fingers typing this weekend as well. Those of us dependent on our wheels kept queries for "cheapest gas" in the list of most sought-after search results. And thanks to a two-day dip, when the price of a gallon of gas dropped below $4, U.S. consumers seem to be wondering if prayers and the teensiest drop in demand may yet have a gravitation pull on the price of petrol.

DURING HIS CAMPAIGN, OBAMA HAS REFUSED TO: SAY THE PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE, SALUTE THE FLAG, OR WEAR A FLAG PIN

Spread The Word...

Image Uploader - Myspace Layouts - Myspace Graphics

Origins: After the September 11 terrorist attacks on the USA, some news outlets asked or ordered their on-air personnel not to wear American flag lapel pins, red, white, and blue ribbons, or other patriotic symbols in order to "maintain an image of impartial neutrality" and to lessen the chances that overseas reporters could be harmed by those who might view them as an arm of the American government. Prominent among these outlets was the ABC network:
ABC News has asked its staff not to wear American flag pins in their lapels, or even red, white and blue ribbons, in an effort to protect their credibility as objective sources.

"I don’t see a contradiction at all between being a patriotic American and being a solid journalist," Trouw said. "Displaying the flag is not a symbol of the government. It’s a show of support for fellow Americans."
to outrage expressed by conservative pundits:
These TV news directors and newspaper editors act like they’re lethally allergic to red, white and blue. Do they plan on boycotting the Fourth of July, too? Wouldn’t want to give the appearance of endorsing either side of that little armed struggle between Mother England and the rebel colonies, right?

Seriously, the hypocrisy is nauseating. "Ethical" news editors wave the high-minded banner of objectivity in wartime. But in peacetime, they don’t think twice about allowing — even encouraging — their reporters to participate in such highly politicized activities as AIDS fund-raisers, race-based affirmative action lobbying efforts, anti-gun proselytizing, pro-abortion rallies and environmental propaganda.

THIS RIDICULOUS ELECTION YEAR!
