When the spill first began, the first thought I had was "why don't they just suck up the saltwater and oil together - separate it, and then return the water back to the gulf, barrel the oil, and sell it to repair all the damage this will cost our environment?" John Hofmeister, the former president of Shell Oil, and Nick Pozzi, a former pipeline engineering and operations project manager for Saudi Aramco, think oil supertankers could be used to suck up massive amounts of oil--possibly millions of barrels at a time. Hofmeister explained that a little-known Saudi oil spill from an offshore platform in the early 1990s dumped hundreds of millions of gallons. But the government and local press kept it quiet. And that's why one of the big fixes in the Saudi oil spill--the oil-skimming supertanker--hasn't been publicized.
"[They] figured out how to deploy supertankers that had the ability to both intake and discharge liquids in vast quantities with huge pumps," Hofmeister explained. "The supertankers could simply suck in seawater and oil simultaneously--they can hold millions of barrels--and when full, they could discharge oil at a port into tanks where they could separate oil from water. The idea is novel in that you can get massive of oil amounts quickly." Once the supertankers make it to to the port, water can be treated and discharged, and oil can either be used or destroyed.
Pozzi saw the technique used in the Middle East, where it recovered 85% of the oil from the Saudi spill. And he thinks it could work in the Gulf of Mexico. "The only downside is that you tie up oil tankers. That's why we think that BP won't listen to us. They don't want to spend that extra money."

After learning about the supertanker technique a few weeks ago, Hofmeister decided to bring it to the government's attention. "I've been trying to connect engineers with decision-makers at the Coast Guard and in the interior department," he said.
Pozzi and his business partner Jon King have also tried to contact officials, with no luck. "I called the President of BP, got his secretary and then got a call from a lady inside the building we were standing outside of. We never really heard back from her. Nick also knew some people and got one of the men in charge of the spill. He threatened to sue Nick for not going through channels," King said.
But even if BP and the government both approve the technique, it will take a while before it can be implemented. "A lot of these supertankers are sitting on the ocean full of oil. How do you get them empty? It may take some time to organize," Hofmeister explained. And, of course, organizers will have to make sure that the supertankers don't crash into each other. All the more reason to get started now.
BP would be wise to listen to Pozzi, who has 40 years of experience in the oil and gas industry. "It's what you can't see that's going to hurt you for years to come. What you see now is just the tip of the iceberg," he said.

Obama received more than $24,000 in campaign contributions over a period of two months last fall from three Palestinian brothers from the "Edwan" family in Rafah, Gaza, which is a Hamas stronghold along the border with Egypt. The story was uncovered by Pamela Geller of the Atlas Shrugs blog. (see Federal Election Commission report)
Attorney and conservative commentator Debbie Schlussel notes foreign nationals are barred from making contributions in connection with any election -- federal, state, or local -- and an individual is allowed to give only $2,300 per election to a federal candidate or the candidate's campaign committee.
"The donations are basically through and through illegal -- that's number one. And number two is how the Obama campaign tried to conceal it," Schlussel 
chides. "They listed the campaign contributions as coming from Rafah, Georgia. They used the 'GA' from Gaza so it makes it look like it's legal; and then for the zip code it says '972,' which is actually the area code to dial over to Gaza," she contends.
The attorney comments that if the Obama campaign is willing to "accept thousands of dollars beyond the legal limit and they're also going to flout [Federal Election Commission] restrictions...that's very indicative of what kind of president [Obama] is going to be."
"They're not going to be worried about the details and they won't mind if they break the law to get to the final result that they want," adds Schlussel. Play Video ELMWOOD PARK, N.J. – They were recorded talking jihad against their fellow Americans. But they hadn't talked the jihadists into accepting them.
When the two New Jersey men tried to fly out of New York's Kennedy Airport in hopes of getting terror training in Somalia, investigators who had been following them for years were waiting for each of them at the gate, officials said Sunday.
Mohamed Mahmood Alessa, 20, and Carlos Eduardo Almonte, 26, were arrested Saturday before they could board separate flights to Egypt and then continue on to Somalia, federal officials in New Jersey and the New York Police Department said.
They are the latest of several U.S. Muslims accused of joining or trying to join terrorist groups, radicalized with help from fellow Americans preaching violent jihad over the Internet.
Authorities say they recorded Alessa and Almonte talking about attacking Americans. Alessa allegedly said he would outdo Maj. Nidal Hasan, the Army psychiatrist accused of killing 13 people at Fort Hood, Texas, last year.
"He's not better than me. I'll do twice what he did," Alessa was recorded saying, according to court documents.
They had no known connections to established terrorist groups, however. They had traveled to Jordan three years ago and tried to get into Iraq, only to be rejected by jihadists, New York Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly said. Their trip to Somalia apparently amounted to a leap of faith that they would be embraced by al-Shabab, a violent extremist group based in Somalia and connected to al-Qaida.
Though Americans are potentially valuable to terrorist groups, they also carry the risk of being undercover investigators — like the one who had gained Alessa's and Almonte's trust well before their arrests.
In March, Alessa was recorded telling Almonte and the NYPD undercover officer that no one else they knew in New Jersey should be included in their plan to join al-Shabab because only the three of them were "serious about their plan and were preparing for it." Court documents do not indicate that authorities had other targets in the investigation.
Law enforcement became aware of the men in the fall of 2006, after receiving a tip. Since then, during the lengthy investigation, the undercover officer recorded conversations with the men in which they spoke about jihad against Americans.
"I leave this time. God willing, I never come back," authorities say Alessa told the officer last year. "Only way I would come back here is if I was in the land of jihad and the leader ordered me to come back here and do something here. Ah, I love that."
Kelly said Alessa, of North Bergen, and Almonte, of Elmwood Park, are American citizens. Alessa was born in the United States and is of Palestinian descent. Almonte is a naturalized citizen who was born in the Dominican Republic.
They are accused of trying to join al-Shabab, which was designated by the U.S. as a terrorist group in 2008.
Investigators say they are among many U.S. terrorism suspects to have been inspired by two well-known U.S. citizens who have recruited terrorists through the Internet: Adam Gadahn, an al-Qaida spokesman in Pakistan, and Anwar al-Awlaki, a radical al-Qaida cleric hiding in Yemen who is believed to have helped inspire recent attacks including the Fort Hood shooting, the Times Square bombing attempt and the failed Christmas Day airline bombing.
Both men have made public calls for smaller, single acts of terrorism and court documents show Alessa and Almonte appearing to be inspired by that idea.
Alessa and Almonte face charges of conspiring to kill, maim, and kidnap persons outside the United States by joining al-Shabab. Teams of state and federal law enforcement agents who have been investigating the men took them into custody, authorities said. They are scheduled to appear Monday in federal court in Newark.
Kelly on Sunday cited the "excellent work" done by the undercover officer, who Kelly said was of Egyptian descent and in his mid-20s.
No one answered the door at Almonte's house and the blinds were drawn. A man who said he was Almonte's father walked into the home shortly before 1 p.m. with another man.
"I'm very confused by all this. He's my son," he said before he went inside. "I just don't understand it."
David Castro, 56, of Elmwood Park, is an Army reservist who lives across the street from Almonte. He said he doesn't know the suspect but knows his father and described the family as friendly.
Terrorists' recruiting techniques "almost seem better than the U.S. Army," Castro said. "This is happening not just in bad neighborhoods. This is happening in good neighborhoods like this one."
Alessa lived with his parents in the densely populated New York suburb of North Bergen, said Hemant Shah, the family's landlord. Alessa was attending Bergen County Community College, Shah said, and his father worked at a convenience store.
"It's surprising," Shah said of the arrests. "If it's true, it's very scary."
Shah said he often saw Alessa with a man who went by "Omar" and a third man that he now believes may have been the undercover FBI agent. He said he believes the agent was often with the other two over the past year or more.
Shah checked on Alessa's parents Sunday and said they didn't want to talk to reporters.
"His parents, they were trying to put him in the right direction," he said.
While court documents paint a picture of two men deeply committed to terrorism, their training was apparently scattershot. They lifted weights, hiked in the snow at a local park, bought military-style pants and water bottles, played violent video games and watched terrorist videos online.
The men said they planned to get weapons when they went abroad. The only weapons they possessed were two folding knives Alessa said he would use to kill police if they tried to get near him: "I'm-a cut them in half with it, even if I die," Alessa said, according to court documents.
Alessa and Almonte had planned their trip to Somalia for several months, saving thousands of dollars, officials said. Both had bragged about wanting to wage holy war against the United States both at home and internationally, according to a criminal complaint.
Almonte told the undercover agent that three years ago, they traveled to Jordan to try to be recruited with holy warriors and were upset when their contacts refused to recruit them.
Officials said the two men were not planning an imminent attack in the New York-New Jersey area and weren't suspected of plotting any violence on their flights.
The two men knew early on they had come to the attention of law enforcement.
By the end of 2006 agents had talked with Almonte and a family member, and in March 2007 the FBI conducted a consensual search of his computer, revealing documents advocating jihad against the perceived enemies of Islam, court papers show.
Last November, investigators recorded Alessa telling Almonte that lots of people needed to be killed.
"My soul cannot rest until I shed blood," Alessa said, according to court documents. "I wanna, like, be the world's known terrorist."
Somalia, an impoverished East African nation of about 10 million people, has not had a functioning government for more than a decade, although the U.S. is backing a transitional government there. The Pentagon's top commander in the region has included Somalia on a list of countries where clandestine American military operations designed to disrupt militant groups would be targeted.
Almonte told the undercover officer in April that there would soon be American troops in Somalia, which he allegedly said was good because it would not be as gratifying to kill only Africans.
Somalia welcomed the arrests of Alessa and Almonte.
"Foreign terrorists here are an obstacle to lasting peace in Somalia. So we welcome the move and we are calling on all governments to take such steps against al-Shabab and all terrorists at large," said Sheik Abdirisaq Mohamed Qaylow, a spokesman for the
Over the past year, a number of Somali youths have traveled from the U.S. back to Somalia to fight with al-Shabab insurgents. At the same time, battle-hardened al-Qaida insurgents have moved out of safe havens along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border into Somalia, where vast ungoverned spaces allow them to train and mobilize recruits without interference.
U.S. authorities, including the FBI, have been working with Somali diasporas, including a large community in Minnesota, to stem the radicalization of young people who are being recruited to join the terror fight.

Despite dropping the groundbreaking bombshell story of "Palestinian" brothers from the Rafah refugee camp in Gaza who donated $33,000 to Obama's campaign, no big media picked up the story. Jihadis donating to Obama from Gaza? Could there be a bigger story? Foreign donations are illegal, but this story was all that and so much more. The "Palestinian" brothers were proud and vocal of their "love" for Obama. Their vocal support on behalf of "Palestinians" spoke volumes to Obama's campaign.

But Obama pricked up his ears. He smelled trouble and while no media asked, he answered anyway. Sen. Obama's campaign immediately scrambled and contended they had returned the $33,500 in illegal contributions from Palestinians in Hamas-controlled Gaza, despite the fact that records do not show that it was returned and the brothers said they have not received any money. Having gone through all of Obama's refunds redesignations etc, no refund was made to Osama, Hossam, or Edwan Monir in the Rafah refugee camp. And still no media.

The Palestinians allegedly claimed "they were American citizens", so said Obama's people. They listed their address -- zip code 972 (ironically the area code for Israel) and they input "GA"

"Some young men even bought the T-shirts for 60 shekel ($17.29), which is a lot to spend in Gaza on a T-shirt, but that is how much Gazans like Obama," Edwan claimed in a follow up article in the conservative websiet WorldNetDaily. And Hamas has publicly endorsed Obama.

Obama's campaign said the Palestinian brothers in the Middle East made $33,000 in illegal donations to the campaign via the internet.
The donations came in between Sept. 20 and Dec. 6 and virtually all of the money, about $33,500, was returned by December 6. But the refunds weren't reported to the Federal Election Commission due to a technical error, campaign officials said.
If McCain had been involved with something so dark and nefarious, taking money from Islamic jihad, his candidacy would never withstand the media blowback.
But it was the son of hope, the agent of change, the one we have been waiting for , so the media yawned.
The jihad donations were hardly the only bloody red flags. The first in my series of posts ran July 19th. The documents were so unwieldy, readers like John, Doc, and Cathy (who discovered Rafah) were working furiously to cross check our findings at the FEC site and then mine the data.
Obama's overseas (foreign) contributors are making multiple small donations, ostensibly in their own names, over a period of a few days, some under maximum donation allowances, but others are aggregating in excess of the maximums when all added up. The countries and major cities from which contributions have been received France, Virgin Islands, Planegg, Vienna, Hague, Madrid, London, AE, IR, Geneva,Tokyo, Bangkok, Turin, Paris, Munich, Madrid, Roma, Zurich,

The more questions we answered the more questions we discovered.
Thousands of Obama's foreign donations ended in cents. The "cents" did not make sense. And we compared McCain donation documentss to Obama's. McCain's records are nothing like Obama's. McCain's are so clean. No cents, all even dollar amounts. But Obama's contained thousands of strange, odd amounts -- evidence of foreign contributors, since Americans living overseas would almost uniformly be able to contribute dollars. Still no media.
Julia Gorin told me a funny story two months ago. Her husband's co-worker wanted to see what would happen if he tried giving a contribution to the Obama campaign via a credit card. He used his Macy's card. The system accepted it. He tried the same with McCain's campaign, and the transaction wouldn't go through. Now, obviously, down the line, the Obama transaction would fail as well, but it goes to the point that there is no safety system in place -- it'll just accept any and all money, which helps explain how his campaign raised so much more money than everyone else's.

In other words, she may be a self-proclaimed FISCAL CONSERVATIVE REPUBLICAN, but SHE IS DEFINITELY NOT A MORALLY ETHICAL REPUBLICAN when it comes to her position on abortion laws and the interpretation thereof. She has stated that she thinks that abortion is lawfully permitted, but only in cases of rape or incest. Which is actually Old Testament code, but adhering to this can also create a loophole: if abortion doctors aren't held accountable to their reporting requirements and paperwork that accompany licensed abortions, then anyone can lie and say that their pregnancy was the result of a rape or incestuous encounter when attaining an abortion from a clinics that do receive some state taxpayer funds.

**Even if it meant her looking the other way about illegal drug revenue as Secretary of State with bonds in the past, or if it means her rejecting moral and ethical principles as GA's future Governor in regards to abortion and stem cells, no matter that it is morally or ethically incorrect, Karen Handel supports the same philosophy of career politician Roy Barnes! As long as it makes money, and as long as it keeps them in office, who cares if it is right or wrong or people are exploited in the process??!
Most people were not questioning Barnes' motives for a 2nd term, or the beacoups amount of money that his campaign has received, but like Handel who supports the Obama agenda covertly along with the loopholes that could present issues in the Reconciliation Bill, as this legislation could enable federal funding of abortion, Roy Barnes paraded this same legislation to Georgians, and pitched it as HEALTH CARE REFORM/INSURANCE FOR EVERYONE, even though it is really only a revenue mechanism for prison expansion and contracts with generic pill companies/big pharmaceuticals.
That's what career politicians do: they lie to the public to get support for so-called "GOOD LEGISLATION", and they write the bills with enough loopholes to dump the money back onto the people and big entities who support their campaigns.
**THAT IS WHY HANDEL IS NOT A PRO-LIFE CANDIDATE AND WHY ROY BARNES ISN'T EITHER! BOTH ARE CAREER POLITICIANS MAKING EMPTY PROMISES TO PUT GEORGIA BACK TO WORK: but they don't tell you that your job will be working at corrupt insurance agencies, working for abortion services and clinics, and for experimental research causes -- whether you are the staff, or the, unknowing participant in an experimental study when you think you're getting healing and curative treatments for diseases, when you're not. Well, Palin set Obama up for the OKEY DOKE with the "DRILL~BABY~DRILL", and now it's "SPILL, BABY, SPILL!"
I think it's unwise for Palin to use deep offshore drilling as a catapult to her bid for President at the expense of the ENTIRE Gulf Coast! Likewise, for her to neglect going after Obama's campaign donors that are Hamas brotherhood and instead of just coming out and saying that these donations were for THE NEW PALESTINE and that THESE ARE OBAMA'S COZY TIES TO OIL, she lacks tenacity unless it benefits ONLY her politically!
That would be my question: her supporting McCain is only good for the Repub party and if she thinks it will buy their support in exchange for her wanting a Presidential bid.
I don't want her for President, and I changed my mind about her even being Vice President when she went after Levi Johnston like a rabid dog. Oh, and the guy that hacked into her profile, okay, so this time it was her account -- she's not the first person nor will she be the last to have their privacy invaded!
I had mine hacked 2 wks. before hers when I was running McCain's internet campaign, so my notes and events were obviously influencing things more than her personal family communication, which would just be added ammunition to "Inside Edition", who in a very illegal manner, exploited Bristol's story when she was a minor! I called them out on that, and I never heard not one more peep out of them!
Then plus, she piggy backs off of my notes! She's too emotional to be President -- she's a great motivational speaker, but she lacks leadership skills, and she's still not groomed for such the responsibility of being President, and she won't be ready within less than 2yrs. for that.

I think it's equally crappy of you to not provide any real facts to support your position and equally funny even a veteran told you so. It doesn't matter to me if they are "staunchly against" corn flakes, regardless of their "reasons" they are crazy assholes who kill people. Don't validate their insanity by saying that we must end what caused them to attack us. Sheer lunacy. Abortion is wrong because it is murder, not because it may have caused 9/11.
What I dispute is that B... See More. Obama's record as President had anything to do with 9/11. Using the the 9/11 tragedy as a headline to lead to a story that bashes Obama's record on an issue is disgusting and shameless.

The problem with that position is that it only takes into consideration the wants, feelings, needs, desires and fate of ONE person....and there are two involved in the decision, at least.

While it is very true that it seems like we're living in a society where the guilty do not get a punishment that fits the crime; i.e., castration for using your penis as a sword, and then we're left with the moral consequences of letting a woman die at the hands of the man by the fruit of his choices/with her dying from complications of the damaged womb not being able to hold the pregnancy that was sown out of lust and violence, not out of love and respect.
The woman will surely bleed to death! Why should she bleed like that and we stand by and do nothing to bind up her wounds? If the child can not develop properly as the womb was too damaged to protect the child, and if the life of the mother and child are in jeopardy from the intrusive conception, are we standing by and doing nothing to spare the woman's life at the hands of an attempted murderer?
That's the problem with the availability of abortion clinics and how Obama doesn't care that this targets the black community. These places are purposefully and strategically located to quell their population, not with birth control and education, but by clinics violating state laws in fraudulently forging paperwork that misrepresents abortion as a medical procedure, abusing the privacy between the patient and physician in order to exploit the patient, who being ignorant or persisting in destructive sexual behavior returns repeatedly to have abortions for free, or little cost that is either paid for privately, but receives partial state funding for providing contraception.
Abortion is not contraception! It is the destruction of a life, that always comes with consequences, and those who have had one willingly and not because of rape do regret what they've done and the penalty is stoning, according to the old law.
I have the same problem with the moral barometer of Karen Handel, it's defunct!
